The Pakistan Peoples Party, led by Bilawal, ran in the July 25th 2018 general elections in Pakistan and won, becoming the largest party in Sindh and the third-largest party overall. In the National Assembly, the party obtained 43 members, nine more than in the general elections of 2013.Bilawal was elected to the Pakistani National Assembly on August 13, 2018. After giving his first address in the parliament, Bilawal received appreciation from journalists, politicians, and Pakistanis. In his speech, he urged Imran Khan to keep his pledge to eradicate corruption, address the water issue, create ten million jobs, and build five million homes for the populace while in office.On March 5th, 2019, Bilawal was unanimously chosen to lead the Standing Committee on Human Rights of the National Assembly. [17] The National Commission on the Status of Women (Amendment) Bill and the ICT Rights of Persons with Disabilities Bill, both proposed by the government, were discussed by the committee during its first meeting on April 18, 2019.

Asserting that it would not be in the interests of democracy, Bilawal has repeatedly criticized the One Unit system and cautioned against any attempt to implement the presidential system in April 2019.

An enthusiastic supporter of democracy, Bilawal has frequently criticized censorship and compared any restrictions on media freedom to living in a dictatorship.

According to Bilawal, his mother’s aim was for a “peaceful, progressive, successful, democratic Pakistan.” He stated that the goal of his 2018 election campaign will be to put these ideas into practice in an interview with the BBC. He firmly thinks that strengthening women and including them in all decisions is the only way to ensure that the nation advances. He is a staunch proponent of women’s rights.

Bilawal has consistently protected the rights of minorities in Pakistan,. On December 25, 2018, Bilawal said, “The PPP is the custodian of social justice, parity, religious and interfaith harmony in the country and its advocacy for the prevalence of peace and tranquillity across the world is heavily established.” This was during a cake-cutting ceremony for Christmas in Karachi. He visited the Hindus in Ghotki on September 29, 2019, and he criticised the attack at the Sacho Satram Dham temple, which was destroyed during the 2019 riots in Ghotki.

In order to show his support for the Kashmiri people, Bilawal met with the Kashmir Council on February 6th 2019, in Washington. During the discussion, he gave the group his word that he would continue speaking out against the atrocities of Indian forces of defenceless, innocent Kashmiris in every arena that was open, both locally and worldwide.

Speaking at a gathering in Washington on February 18, 2018, Bilawal said that terrorism is on the rise in Pakistan and that democracy may triumph against extremism, but that the largest conflict is between philosophies. Additionally, Bilawal has frequently attacked the administration for refusing to put the National Action Plan into effect, which he views as a threat to national peace and democracy. In addition, he has called for the dismissal of three federal ministers, charging them with ties to outlawed violent groups.

He was sworn in as Pakistan’s foreign minister on April 27, 2022. Bilawal became Pakistan’s youngest foreign minister after taking the oath of office.

To elevate ties between Pakistan and China, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari met with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi on May 21, 2022, in Guangzhou, where he made the proclamation “Any Attack on China is an Attack on Pakistan.”

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is the first and lone son of Late Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto and President Asif Ali Zardari. His birthday is on 21 September 1988 and his birthplace is in Karachi.

His first school was the Aitcheson in the city of Lahore but could not carry on due to numerous safety precautions. Despite these threats he continued his academics at the Karachi Grammar School during his mothers next year as the Prime Minister. He also studied at the Frobel’s International School in the capital city, Islamabad.

During the self imposed exile periof of Benazir Bhutto he spent most of his time in Dubai or London where he continued his studies. Bilawal also studied at the Rashid School for Boys in Dubai and the Oxford University in London. His time at Oxford was from the year 2007 till 2010 where he was studying Modern and General History. Bilawal is a Black Belt in Taekwondo and loves to play cricket.

Benazir Bhutto’s death resulted in his father becoming the new Chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party but he favoredhim for the role. Thus Bilawal Bhutto Zardari was appointed as the new Chairman and the person that would signify the heritage that his mother and her family possessed. He was formally appointed Chairman on 30 December 2007.

After four years of being the Chairman, he returned to Pakistan and became an active politician. His political career had begun and he delivered his first public address on his mother’s fifth death anniversary at Garhi Khuda Baksh. Till date he continues to be an active member of the Pakistan People’s Party and continues his role as the Chairman of his party.
