Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan was born on the 2nd of March in the year 1963. He is an important member of the Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) from the party’s early days. He studied at the Dow Medical Collage (DMC) in Karachi from where obtained his MBBS degree in medicine.

While studying at the Dow Medical Collage he surfaced as a potential leader of the MQM student division and the leader of the MQM medical branch.

He came into main stream politics In the year 1990 when he was appointed the Minister of Housing and Town Planning. Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan left Pakistan for a political asylum to the UK after 1992 operation against MQM leadership and became a British National in following years.

In late 2002 (27 December), he became the Governor of Sindh and has this post to date becoming the longest serving governor in Pakistan.
