Asad Umer was born in Karachi in the year 1961. As a student, he went to the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) from where he obtained his MBA degree. Before entering politics he was a successful business professional working as CEO of one of the largest corporate house Engro Corp.
He joined Engro in the year 1985 working as a business analyst. In the year 1997, he was appointed the CEO of Engro’s branch: Polymer and Chemicals. He then became president in 2004 and lead Engro to become a world famous company. However he left Engro in the year 2012 after working for 27 years.
After resigning from Engro, he joined the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf with a mission to serve his country and improve to the economic conditions of Pakistan. He was appointed as the Senior Vice-President of the PTI in late April 2012 and has this role till date. He recently got elected as MNA in bi-election 2013 from a seat in Islamabad.
